[Knock knock, good morning!! It isn't dawn by any means, she's not insane, but it is just a little bit earlier than most people might consider respectable for breakfast. It's been a few days since everyone's (or... most people's...) return from the forest, and in all the chaos and commotion of realizing that people were missing, she'd almost forgotten she has something for him. There isn't anything else she can do about that situation at the moment, which means her schedule is open to Pestering People.]
Senpai! Open up!
[She could have just called his communications device, but that seems way less efficient than just going to see him personally.]
[It is indeed kind of early in the morning for a visit, but Shinjiro is up at the very least— but only barely, so give him a couple sleepy seconds to come over and open the door when she knocks. There's a classic Shinji Delay before he does even that much - as if he, uh, was totally going to feign sleep if it wasn't Kotone out there, because he would have - and when he appears he is without his hat and coat, squinting a little. Hi. Good morning.]
Do you know what time it is? [Good god, gurl. And yet he still steps aside with a little gesture, like, is she coming in? Come on in.] What's the rush?
[Come and look at his empty room, it clearly needs Items!!]
[It's either she gets up early to see Shinji, or she stays in bed for several hours until she thinks of something else to do. Getting up early and keeping to a routine seems like the better thing to do? So here she is, hand raised as if she might knock again.]
Morning! [She glances at her watch (the one he'd given her, back then) as if to confirm that yes, she knows what time it is, before bouncing inside. Maybe it should be odd to go into a boy's room, but that's never really been something she worried about. Yukari would probably throw a fit, but she's not here to know, so-!
It both looks like the dorm and doesn't look like the dorm. The furniture is different, but the personality is the same, in that there's nothing there to make it his. It had been too late when she'd realized last time, but not this time! Once she reaches the middle of his room, she turns on her heel and clasps her hands behind her back with a pleased little grin.]
[It might be more of a big deal to walk into Shinji's room if, you know, he had done much personalizing to it-- His coat hangs over the back of the room's default chair, hat on top of that, and he gestures for Kotone to sit there if she likes, so she needn't worry about the only other place to sit, i.e. the default bed (tidily made!). For all the room's... defaultness, Shinji seems to be having an ordinary and not-so-bleak morning, so there's that.
Like, he's still not-quite-awake enough for company, but it's not like peppy is in his core personality traits, so it's fine. He's doing just fine. What does she mean she has something, why would she do that. Only Shinji can give people things and then fondly-but-silently notice them later, as he does now, ahem.]
And it's gonna disappear by lunchtime? [girl. okay, okay-] What is it?
[She'd have sat on the bed if he'd gestured to it, but as it is, she only plops down in the chair so maybe Shinji doesn't just awkwardly hover around. Sure, her gift wouldn't disappear by lunchtime, but this way maybe she can nag him into making her breakfast, so... it's not like she doesn't have her own motives for the early-morning wakeup.]
Do you know Astralin Turnont-san? I spent some time with him in the forest on the way back, and he made some little things out of ice. I asked him to make this for you!
[From within her skirt pocket, she draws out the little ice sculpture of a Shiba Inu and scoots her chair closer, holding it out with both hands like a little "ta-da!"]
[Ah, well, the Astralin namedrop gets him to perk up just slightly, more awake now that A Friend has been mentioned. He made... ice things...?]
I met him back when we first got here. He's a good guy. [...and yes, okay,] We're friends.
[So while he's still somewhat restrained, as he leans in to get a better look at this Ice Thing, it's with the sort of quiet appreciation of his people he's let eke out before. For SEES, for Kotone herself, even for Aki punching him in the face... Astralin has made a good impression, so jot that down.
and holy shit it's a tiny dog oh my god]
You got him to make a Koro-chan? [help it's so cute, he doesn't know what to do!!] For me? ....Can I hold him?
[Like, how do you hold delicate ice dogs in general, but ohhh my god.]
[She doesn't miss the way he perks up at the mention of the name, and it makes her smile just that little bit wider. Finally, a name and a face to go with one of Shinji's friends... not to mention that expression on his face. She won't call him out on it, but it's heartening to see. She makes a mental note to be sure to do something extra nice for Astralin when she has the chance, if only because he's made such an impression on Shinji.]
It's for you, so yeah! He said it won't ever melt, even though it's made of ice.
[She gently passes it over, relinquishing it to him as her smile softens. Even if the mini-Koromaru is cute enough that she'd almost considered keeping it for herself, this reaction is totally worth it.]
These are the flowers that were growing in my inn room. They are finally in bloom, so I decided to bring you a bouquet. I also brought you a vase, and some food for the flowers so they will survive a bit longer.
[It is a delivery of More Pies, neatly wrapped with a note stuck on top. Shinji's handwriting leaves a few things to be desired, but it's legible. Ahem:]
Hey-
These are thanks for the flowers. And the little guy Kotone asked you to make. I know it's more of the same, but they're fresh.
The flowers look nice. Teach me how to grow a plant next time we hang out?
Shinjiro
[This note does not convey the hour he had to spend staring at the ceiling in tender silence, overwhelmed by friend emotions, but he tried. He also tried to draw a tiny dog at the bottom, it's... definitely dog-ish.]
You did not need to pay me back in pies. In fact, I did not know the dog was meant for you until I put two and two together... None the less, I do hope you enjoy those flowers, and the dog. Miss Kotone said that it was the dog that you cared for in the dorms?
I would be more than happy to teach you whatever you want to learn. Do not hesitate to ask me.
[No, he actually does need a minute, since these charms only do speech to text and he is having some difficulty speaking around his well of emotions. Ah...]
Let me know. Uh, when the farm's up and ready. I'll come see.
[Well, he wasn't expecting to leave for a short period of time, but here he was... It hadn't been long, but he can't help but worry for the farm, and what the children might be up to since he's been gone. Honestly, he feels a bit bad, like he let them down or something, even if it wasn't his intention to leave to begin with. Still, here he is, standing at the outskirts of the farm. His hand brushing through his hair as he examines the farm.
Funny enough, it's still completely intact. Every animal is around still, and his crops look like they've been taken care of. Which makes him wonder... Who took care of the farm while he was gone? He's quite pleasantly surprise, expecting it to be in disarray when he returned, but he finds himself simply astonished. His hand rubbing his chin, as he sits on a pile of hay. His eyes darting back and forth, as the animals begin to surround him, recognizing him as their mother and his return.]
[Who has been looking after the farm, indeed. Closer inspection might betray two city kids' wild guesses with how to handle some of these farming tasks, but for the most part, Shinji and Kotone have done an alright job. And since part of that alright job is kind of full time, they've also definitely moved into Astralin's house while he's away.
Yes, he'd offered. But then he'd mysteriously disappeared (the second person Shinji has somehow gotten close to here, already, he wasn't expecting the mysterious disappearances so soon—) and it still feels... awkward... to live in a person's house while they're not around. Which is all to say that Shinji has been sleeping on the couch, and just putting up with the vaguely sore back that's been giving him, because of course he would do this. That's the main reason he's not quick enough to grab star chicken Scramble as she darts off to join the other animals surrounding Astralin, and so here comes Shinji bringing up the rear of the procession, looking faintly harrowed about this bird.]
Come back here, you didn't eat anything— [But oh, hold on, that's Astralin there, when he looks up from chicken antics. Just sitting there, like he didn't disappear at all... ah. Shinji stares at him for a moment before he has to look down again, squinting hard lest he do something embarrassing like show an emotion, mmph-] ....You're back.
[Honestly, he's utterly shocked the farm is still standing. None the less, he awoke back here, and honestly... Has no memory of what happened. He just remembers sleeping for a really long time, and then he woke up. Still, he doesn't think on it too much, and he simply curves his lips into a smile upon seeing Shinji reach for Scramble. Quite the troublemaker this one was, and he's glad that nothing has changed after his very long, and extensive nap.]
... Yes. I just woke up. I apologize... If I left you far too much work to do. Is everything alright?
[He brushes some of his hair back, and reaches down to pet Scramble with a soft smile. Slowly reaching out for the chicken now, and wrapping his arms around the chicken with ease. Finally taking a step forward, reaching out to actually pat Shinji's head.]
[Why is it that he's always soggy when he runs into Shinjiro? Thankfully he doesn't actually run into him, but he is moving at a pretty brisk clip, sneakers squelching horribly as he goes, so when he rounds a corner it's a near thing. He makes a startled sound as he sidesteps, raising his hands in apology for almost colliding with him.] My bad.
[Shinji is just trying to mind his own business and finally get away from this dang party for ten minutes, so it's, hm - well, it's something to run into Akira like this? Wet, again? He stops short and gives him a look, a little confused, because really, how is this man so Wet so often.]
The hell happened to you? You weren't soaked before. [He saw.... he witnessed a nonzero number of drunken behaviors from the sidelines, but never mind that now.] You need a towel...?
[Akira's aim is to duck his head and be on his way, but Shinji addresses him and he lingers, looking him over. Oh, the kind of intimidating guy from the fishing hole..., He ducks his head anyway, reaching up to fidget with his hair, twisting the centermost lock of curls between his thumb and forefinger.]
